The law firm's owner and principal attorney, Diane Crookham-Johnson, attended Drake University Law School as a full-time, non-traditional law student while remaining actively involved within Iowa and her home community of Oskaloosa. While serving as Iowa Legal Aid Foundation President, as a member of the Drake Law Board of Counselors, and as a member of Oskaloosa YMCA Gymnastics Parents Board, she made the Law School Dean's List and was a Moot Court Semi-Finalist in the C. Edwin Moore Oral Argument Competition. Additionally, Diane held internships with the United States Attorney's Office (Southern District of Iowa), Iowa Legal Aid, and served as a Judicial Intern in Iowa's District Court 8A.
Community involvement is very important to Diane as evidenced by the more than 20 boards and organizations on which she served including Iowa Public Television Treasurer, Iowans for a Better Future, Institute for Tomorrow's Work Force, William Penn University Advisory Board, Wellmark Customer Advisory Council, Mahaska Hospital Foundation, and Mahaska County Foster Care Review Board. Diane currently sits on the State Board of Education.
Diane is married with two children, has lived in Oskaloosa for over 20 years, and is a life-long resident of Iowa. She comes from a family passionate about the law as she is the fourth generation attorney to practice in Mahaska County. This history includes her great-great grandfather, J.A.L. Crookham, who was the county's first Judge from 1851-1855.
